Book Hell

Today I spent about 10 hours sitting in a Panera and beginning work on the next book project. It made me think about my lovely sister-in-law, who I will call Sara.

Sara is a lovely person. Smart. Thoughtful. Insightful. But she’s also a major book snob. She’ll rip books, rip authors, etc. I never minded until I began writing my own books—and now it drives me crazy. I’m well aware that I’m blessed by being able to do this for a living; by being able to follow a dream. But writing a book is an absolute beast. The research takes forever, and can be insanely dull. Today, for example, I went day by day through a certain player’s 1990 statistics and articles. Day by day by day. It takes forever, and melts minds. So to then have someone quickly say, “Eh, the book bites …” well, it hurts.

OK, enough whining.
