This is not my America

Politicians tend to say, “We Americans have more commonalities than we do differences.” I try and believe this—but I don’t.

The above video is from two days ago—the 9/11 Never Forget Coalition Terror Trials Protest at Foley Square in New York City. I truly hurt for the people here who lost loved ones on 9/11. I can’t fully imagine that pain, but I do understand the anger.

That anger, however, is not good enough reason to throw out our decency; our sense of justice. The way you win over the world is not by acting like the terrorists. It’s by providing fair and open justice for all.

It’s messy.

It’s ugly.

It’s righteous.
