This advertisement, by Georgia GOP gubernatorial candidate Nathan Deal, is as sinfully homophobic as it is jarringly pathetic.
Really, this is who you are? This is what you stand for? Really?
From Nat’s website: Nathan has been married to his wife, Sandra, for 44 years. Nathan supports traditional family values that uphold the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Unlike other candidates in the race to become Georgia’s next governor, Nathan does not – and has not – supported taxpayer funded benefits for domestic partners. As the father of four grown children and six grandchildren, Nathan knows the importance of strong families. He does not support gay adoption.
Also from Nat’s website: On Sundays, you’ll find Nathan and Sandra Deal at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, where Nathan has been both a deacon and a Sunday School teacher.
I know many Christians. I know many Jews. I know many Muslims. I know precious few people who could possibly think the above advertisement jibes with a loving and caring God.
Has this been a weird season for the GOP, or what?
