GOP irony at its best

paccy10

Barack Obama is a socialist! He wants to change our way of life! He’s anti-American! The Democracts support activist judges! We need judges who strictly adhere to the Constitution! Blah, blah, blah, blah!

You’ve heard it. I’ve heard it. The crap’s been said 1,000 times before.

Now, this.

Today on Meet the Press, John Boehner, the Ohio Republican and House Minority Leader, said that changing the Constitution’s guarantee of U.S. citizenship for anyone born in the U.S. is “worth considering” if it helps reduce illegal immigration. Boehner is the latest in a growing line of GOPers (Mitch McConnell, John McCain) who are floating the idea.

Granted, it’s almost certainly just a political nod to the Tea Wacks who want to go out and hunt Mexicans. MCs like Boehner certainly know the 14th Amendment isn’t changing. But to even suggest the idea—well, it’s insane. Not become I think the Constitution is perfect. Hell, it was written by human beings, and humans make mistakes. But if you listen to Republicans in all other areas, this very idea smells of treason.

Oy.
