I like Deadspin, and I really like A.J., Deadspin’s editor.

But I don’t like this.

In a piece on the website from earlier today, A.J. decided to run Charlie Sheen’s cell phone number. Here’s the post—but, seriously, don’t call. Don’t.

Again, I like A.J. But why do this? Is it not enough for Sheen to lose his job; to become a punch line for the nation; to have his career come crashing down? Is his addiction not tragic enough? How about losing his kids? What more do we expect from this sap? Seriously—when is enough enough?

It’s just mean. Unnecessarily mean.

  1. But, by pointing everyone to the article, even if you say “don’t call”, don’t you think you’re adding fuel to the fire?

  2. No, because Jeff probably gives his readers some credit for thinking individually. The ones who are disgusted by A.J. Daulerio are not automatically going to click through.

Honestly, if it was not for Drew Magary’s writing, I’d never look at Deadspin. Embarrassed my writing graced that site back in the Leitch days.
