I received this in an e-mail today …

It was a mass message, though from someone I know and like. Here’s my question: Does the sentiment count? What I mean is, we live in an age when birthday reminders pop up on Facebook; when anniversaries appear on Twitter, etc … etc. So, of you receive a Happy Birthday wish from someone who only had to click and send, does it count?
I say, sorta. But not fully. It’s like when some company ships off one of those “On behalf of all of us at Chase Bank …” Chase knows, and you know, that nobody at Chase particularly cares whether you have a fabulous holiday season. It’s just done to be done. For business. For … standard reasons.
So does it count?
I say … sorta. But not really.

WISHING A
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
