I am from Chicago and met Walter Payton several times. I read “Sweetness” before the SI article and considered it outstanding. It is by far one of the best BIOGRAPHIES I’ve read. I have a vast library collection from Dickens to Austen, Shakespeare to Wolfe, and everything by Bob Woodward. Between 2011 and 2014 I read over 200 books. Only one book twice; “Sweetness”! It is the only “sports book” NOT WITH all my other sports books. I did spend a year feverishly defending the book. Mostly to those who did not read it. My heart was broke at the end of The “Whore”.
OKAY, test time:
Who made the statement very close to “Any DoDo can write a book”.
