Then, immediately below it, a woman named Kim Smith wrote this …
I headed over to Kim’s page … and she wasn’t lying or being sarcastic. Her Facebook offerings included this …
… and this …
… and this …
… and this …
… and on and on and on and on.
And, truly, the more you scan down Kim Smith’s page, the more you realize that she actually just might follow the president’s instructions and eat a log of brown shit. It’s not all that hard to imagine. He could tell his followers that eating a log of shit would kill Barack Obama; or that ISIS hates us for our freedom, and today we will symbolize freedom by all consuming a log of shit. Maybe he’ll tell Kim Smith that, as a boy, he ate logs of shit—and now he’s president.
I can go on and on, thinking of scenarios that would result in Kim Smith eating a log of shit. But the number one reason? Without question, it’s the power of brainwashing.
In case you missed this, last month The Guardian’s Carole Cadwalladr wrote a thorough, detailed riveting piece on a billionaire’s (successful) efforts to manipulate the easily swayed into buying a far-right nationalistic message of anti-Obama, anti-Hillary, anti-liberal loathing. The story is a worthwhile read, but—to sum it up quickly—it explained how Robert Mercer has exploited Facebook (and LIKES) to perfectly mark those who can be wooed with pretend news stories and alarmist headlines.
It’s how folks wind up thinking Obama to be a Kenyan-born Muslim and Hillary a man-hating crook who belongs in jail. It’s also how people like Kim Smith often turn bitter, enraged, frustrated.
They want answers.
They’ll eat shit to get them.
