I’ve been reading about the death of Bin Laden all morning. About the Navy SEALs. About the Pakistani government. About Obama and Bush and generals and on and on.
What it comes down to, sadly, is the below video. It’s worth watching, because—oddly—it’s sometimes easy to forget what this all comes down to.
I’ve written this before, but 9.11 still haunts me. Not like it did at the time, living in New York City, smelling the rubble and volunteering near the site and walking in a daze for the ensuing days. But it’s still there—hearing an airplane above and thinking, “Oh, shit.”
Still happens. Will probably always happen.
I hope this whole thing offers some level of comfort to the families of victims. Not sure whether it will—but a guy can hope.
