I wasn’t going to post this. Too disturbing. Too horrifying. And, no exaggeration, as I watched it, sitting here in my cozy coffee shop, my hands reflexively covered my mouth in shock and pain.
Which is why you should, perhaps, watch. Not your kids. But you.
This is what gun violence looks like. This is exactly what it is to have someone approach with a gun and shoot you, and end your existence. This is the raw truth; the truth we often refuse to show because it’s too hard to look at. Too violent. Too troubling.
But maybe, just maybe, we need to see the violence and to be troubled.
Gun are used, increasingly, to kill innocent people in this country.
This is what it looks like.
This is what the NRA is fighting for.
