Last night I tweeted like a tool

Micah: Not a big Train fan
Micah: Not a big Train fan

In case you missed this (and you almost certainly did), last night I fired off an inexplicably, unjustifiably nasty Tweet to Micah Johnson, a professional baseball player who has spent some quality time in the Majors.

It began when I saw this, from Micah …

Now, why did this set me off? I have, quite literally, no idea. I’m not a particularly big Train fan, I didn’t watch Game One of the NBA Finals. If I dig deep, it probably has something to do with my anger yesterday, RE: Trump’s devastating decision to pull us from the Paris Accord. I was furious and bitter and huffing and puffing.

So, eh, I wrote this …

Ugh. Not sure that could have been dumber. Or more inappropriate. Or more preposterous. I’ve covered sports for more than 20 years now. I despise fans who mock players for their average, ERA, turnovers, missed tackles, missed shots, last-place finishes, etc. Being a professional athlete is a beast, and Micah’s .226 would be my .000. Seriously, it’d be much easier for him to write a book than me to hit a curveball.

So, truly, I’m a moron, and any criticism I receive is rightly deserved.

Which makes this all the better …

White flag, waved.

My bad.

PS: Worst of all, it turns out Micah is this really smart, fascinating man. Take a look.
