We have a winner!

So after much deliberation, we have an official winner of the Jeffpearlman.com Book Giveaway for The Worst Song/Video Combo in Music History.

The challenge was to come up with something worse than KISS’s dreadful A World Without Heroes, and several of you did. So here’s the countdown, with the winner listed below …

5. I love this, but one has to assume Mr. T was in on the joke. Therefore, it’s hard to deem this title worthy.

4. I guess my problem with Thor is I never heard of Thor. It’s excellent to suck. But it’s truly excellent if we know who you are.

•••

3. Whoa!

2. Admittedly, this is pretty fucking remarkable. And he’s a guy anyone over the age of, oh, 40 knows.

1. Alas, there can only be one champion—and this has to be it. Big props to Arnold for bringing this to my attention. It is truly the most [FILL IN THE BLANK] video by a so-called rock star ever, ever, ever made. By comparison, KISS deserves a VMA.

Arnold, drop me an e-mail at anngold22@gmail.com to claim your prize. And thanks to all for participating. This wasn’t an easy one …

PS: All that being said—this has to be right up there.

  1. Good call on the #1 video — Rock Me Tonite is the absolute first thing that comes to mind whenever I think about bad music videos. Sooooo… awkward…

  2. Oh no. If there were ever a case for a bad combination of song and video, it’s “We Built This City” by Starship. I actually like the song, but it’s the ultimate proof that Grace Slick took too many drugs in the Sixties. And the city that’s in the video, Las Vegas, isn’t even the city that they’re singing about, San Francisco!
