Back when I was in junior high school, I was bullied. There was a kid who, after one particular gym class, punched me in the head. Hard. I cried, and spent the remainder of the academic year having my books kicked down hallways. Honestly, it was a terrible stretch of my life. As bad as it ever got.
The bully was bigger. Tougher. Stronger.
In hindsight, however, I wish I’d fought back. One punch, unexpected, to the jaw. Even if it’d result in me getting my anus kicked, well, it would have been worth it. Because getting bullied sucks. Like, it really, truly, absolutely sucks.
I digress.
The above video is, by all accounts, legit. I checked with a source pretty close to the initial posting, and here’s the basic story:
A. The heavyset kid is picked on. Often. He’s one of those docile sorts who doesn’t fight back. Who’s incessantly mocked because, well, kids tend to pick out the weakest link and attack. Much like ants.
B. The little kid is the bully. You can hear his friends egging him on … laughing at the other boy. It’s a scene repeated at hundreds of schools nationwide. Always heartbreaking, always (to a certain degree) unavoidable.
C. The big kid is fed up. And he snaps.
This is one of those videos that’ll either:
1. Have 5 million hits by tomorrow morning.
Or …
2. Find itself pulled from YouTube.
There is now a Facebook page supporting the big kid, Casey, was has supposedly been suspended by the school. It also made its way to Deadspin.
As for the suspension—I’m torn. On the one hand, we don’t want to support violence. On the other hand, having been bullied, I know how much it sucks. It sucks, it sucks, it sucks, it sucks. And no matter how it’s handled by adults—interventions, punishments, tongue lashings—it’s never really handled.
This time, it has been. Think the kid’s gonna fuck with Casey again?

Casey Heynes has had enough of being bullied. This 16 year old kid has been tormented every single day of his short high school life – and today he snapped!! He was suspended and may be looking at criminal charges, all because this little runt thought he could make an example of Casey in front of his “TUFF buddies!!”
Althought I don’t condone violence, I felt compelled to pat him on the back with a big massive kudos!!
To all the bullies out there – you will get yours one day!
