Is it wrong that I dislike the Winter Olympics?
I feel a tad guilty expressing myself on this issue, because so many folks think it’s the greatest thing ever and the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat and the snow and the medals and … and … and …
I don’t feel it.
At all.
Whenever I watch the Winter Games, I find myself asking, “How does anyone care about that?” OK, I get skiing, figure skating and hockey—because they’re ubiquitous American activities. But otherwise … I just can’t relate. I see dudes speed skating around a track and, instead of saying, “Wow, what’s amazing! I find myself thinking, “How, exactly, did something this random become a sport?” Again—great athletes, work their butts off, captivating material for many.
But, for me … well, no.
Just no.
