Books, books, books

As I write this, I am fighting for “Football for a Buck: The Crazy Rise and Crazier Demise,” to stay afloat.

It’s sorta how this whole PR thing works. In the leadup to release you push and push and plug and plug. The book comes out and you push and push and plug and plug. You do TV and radio and TV and radio and more TV and radio. You Tweet, host contests, do trivia, engage via Periscope. You talk soooooo much about a subject you grow sick of it, until you start dreaming of the conversations you’ll have.

And then, like a snap, it slows.

And slows.

And slows.

And on the one hand, you’re happy. You can return to other projects, get back to thinking about stuff unrelated to the USFL, resume a normal schedule and pleasant family time. But, well, you’re also human. And you wanna know where everyone went. The questions have ceased. The dialogues have stopped. Anyone wanna talk about my book? Anyone?

Ultimately, you moved on, and look back at what was a blissful and enriching experience.

But it stings a bit.

It stings.

  1. Bought the book. Loved it. Great, great read. Not enough about the Denver Gold but hey we’re in the forgotten time zone so it goes with living in the Rockies. if you’re a sports fan, or just into great wordsmithing, add this to your library. Well done Mr. Pearlman
